PRINT FINISHING

In addition to print we also offer the following selection of print finishing services.

All services are available to both trade and non-trade customers and can be used in combination with or separately to print orders.

Guillotining

Heidelberg Guillotine print finishing

We offer guillotining to both large volume trade and smaller run, non-trade customers, where a sharp edge with no burring is essential.

Our guillotine will take a maximum sheet size of 920x920mm, and we can cut down to a minimum size of 25x25mm.

Die Cutting

Die Cutting falls into two camps – Traditional & Digital.

Here at PDA Print we’re pleased to offer both options.

Traditional Die Cutting uses a physical die (usually wood mounted with a shaped steel cutter). The die is attached to a cutting machine (in our case a Heidelberg Platen) which feeds the paper or card and then cuts the shape.

This method is popular for larger quantities as consistency is excellent and running time generally quicker than digital die cutting. Here at PDA we produce all our standard envelopes, wallets etc. using this method.

If you are interested in a large run of a bespoke shape, ask us about getting a die made. We will store your dies on site ready to use on future orders at no extra charge.

Digital Die Cutting is a more modern process which uses vector graphic files and laser technology to cut the shape required. This means there is no need to go to the expense of getting a die made, which makes it ideal for short runs. Designs produced this way can be more intricate and can be easily modified. Digital die cutting is a great option when you need a degree of flexibility and really allows you to let your imagination run wild. We’ve been asked to cut fruit, fans, animals and everything in between...

If you’d like any further information about either system of cutting, please email us and we’ll be happy to help.

Duplexing

Duplex gluing is the process of bonding two or more sheets of card together to create a super thick finished product. Up to five sheets can be bonded to a finished weight of around 1750gsm thick (depending on card choice).

We can bond sheets of the same card together for a classic look or play with different colours to create something unique. With over 600 cards in stock, the possibilities really are endless...

Duplexing works well with digital print where you are limited to a thickness of 350gsm, allowing for a much thicker finished product which offers real impact.
